Purple Spattered Memories by zancan Purple Spattered Memories by zancan
Oil painting on canvas - 80x100 cm ( 31.5x40 inch )

Just like time eroding the tenderest stone
Memories have carved their way
Throughout my headbone,

I remember the wind blowing so cold
Biting your skin just like a blade
and I'm alright, you said
You said: for once I feel

I recall everything
The freeze tinting your cheeks with purple
Every mistake, every stumble
And each footstep you made
into the sand

I look at you
How long am I bound to stand?
Here, you seem so untrue
Desperately peaceful and quiet

I love the motif of the stone fish in your paintings. It's just another string that ties in your art with your intentions behind your art.

I love the way you coil vines around the people in a lot of your paintings. It adds so much depth to the picture; as if to suggest the person has been there for a very long time, or that they're very close to the natural things around them... I love it!

This moved me so much. And then, I read the poem in the artist's comments, and I was shaken even further. This is really an amazing piece. Really. I am honestly finding a hard time expressing my feelings hear, I apologies for the lack of constructive comment...

well the only critic i could make its the proportion on the characters body..since you've made it so realisti...notice that the legs should be higher up or if not..longer..the body seems to long

Ohh, I really like this one, too! (Sorry for favorite-spamming, by the way. ><) The statue in front reminds me of a Shelly poem and the whole thing, especially the head with the tree growing out of it, and the strange columns in the background, puts me in mind of a Dali painting. I love the man's completely relaxed pose; it seems like he's been there awhile because the plants have started to grow around him. It seems like his own pose might have mirrored the statue's before he fell asleep. Again, wonderful work!

I may be completely wrong, but to me, this painting is kind of like God waiting for Adam to wake up, so that He can speak with him, or share His thoughts. The way His second arm curls around the edge of that crevice reminds me a little of guidance, and the statues in the top right corner made me thin of angels. It's an amazing piece of art work. (:

He must have been sleeping a long time for those vines to have grown on him so it's no wonder the rock man is looking impatient! Well done and you have amazing skills!
